Born in North Carolina, Phil has been drawing and painting since childhood. A professional artist since 1985, Phil has shared his artistic talents in many forms. Phil spent time in Colorado, painting part-time doing pictures of the rocky Mountain scenery.
Next he's off to Hawaii. The picture of the Ewa, Gallery Haleiwa, Hawaii, marks the beginning of Phil's professional career. Truly a "starving artist" Phil lived in a shack at the back of the gallery. The shack was built around a mango tree. The windows were screen, no glass with wooden flaps to cover them. His shower was a hose connected to the sink in the Gallery, with no hot water. It drained out the back into the woods.
From there he finds himself in Virginia Beach painting murals, including murals on a ship for the US Navy. Then it's off to Hollywood doing backdrops and sets for the motion picture industry. Time asses and Phil's on to the Pacific Northwest doing historical murals.
After working from coast to coast Phil returns to his hometown, High Point, NC where the experiences of his travels and his work has evolved allowing him to create the masterpieces you see on this site.
